Dr. Meharvan “Sonny” Singh is an internationally known researcher at the forefront of the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. As the Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of North Texas - Health Science Center, he leads a talented and dedicated faculty who use state-of-the-art technology and training methods to tackle such major biomedical problems as cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease and Alzheimer’s disease.  An exceptional educator and advocate for Alzheimer’s related causes, his presentations are always enlightening and well-received.
Upon earning his BS and PhD degrees from the University of Florida, Dr. Singh has spent most of his professional career focusing on how hormones, like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, affect the brain, particularly within the context of brain aging and such degenerative diseases as Alzheimer’s disease. Along with his colleagues, he has been awarded a patent and has other patents pending.
Dr. Singh recently served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the North Central Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer Association. He serves on national grant review groups, including that of the NIH, the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer’s Association. He routinely offers his expertise as a peer-reviewer for numerous scientific journals, and is currently a reviewing editor for Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. Dr. Singh also serves on the editorial board for Endocrinology and other scientific journals.
