As Rotarians, we must adjust to our “new normal” as this unprecedented environment evolves. We are a People of Action and have a rich history of “Service Above Self”. I believe we can help our community by following the guidelines and instructions given by President Trump, Governor Abbott, and Mayor Price, to limit non-essential travel, avoid gathering in groups, and maintain a six foot distance between others until the infection rate reduces to a manageable level. Our club has historically been active supporters of Carter Blood Care which has a critical need for at least 700 donations in the next 5 days. I encourage eligible members to donate blood at the Hulen or Rosedale donation center in lieu of meeting this week. I donated Wednesday at the Rosedale location and felt very safe. I believe we can do this and demonstrate our service to the community and set an example to those around us.
