For over 30 years the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South has honored the city’s outstanding police officers and fire fighters with a plaque and cash award at an annual recognition luncheon in honor of Vince Genovese, a vibrant member of our Club and the Community. The Fort Worth Police Chief and Fire Chief make these presentations. To hear them tell of the bravery of these men and women is truly inspiring. This year we are expanding the event to include First Responders of all types. To register: http://tinyurl.com/RotaryFirstResponders

Our Foundation will once again participate in the North Texas Giving Day event.  Last year we raised $1,300 and our goal is to raise $3,000.

What is North Texas Giving Day?

North Texas Giving Day is an online giving event for people across the nation (and the world!) to come together to raise as much money as possible for North Texas nonprofits on one day: September 22, 2016. In seven years, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $119 million into the North Texas community. In 2015, $33 million was raised through more than 118,000 gifts benefiting 2,020 nonprofits.

When is North Texas Giving Day?

Giving Day 2016 is Thursday, September 22, from 6 AM Central – Midnight.

Who created North Texas Giving Day?

Communities Foundation of Texas, a leading 63-year-old community foundation headquartered in Dallas, TX, created North Texas Giving Day in 2009. North Texas Giving Day was one of the first—and is the largest—community-wide giving days in the country.

On January 30, 2015 the Rotarians of Fort Worth South presented iPads to students at Richard Wilson Elementary.  The iPads are used to supplement the student's courses and have proven to be a huge hit.  Not only do the iPads make learning more fun but students are also much more engaged in their own learning.  Student's grades have improved since the implementation of these iPads.

Hundreds of people visit Fort Worth's Trinity Park on a beautiful weekend, and many sit on the park's benches to view the Trinity River, people, and the Texas sky.

But this Saturday, those who like to sit and ponder nature will have to keep moving.

On Saturday, April 18, 2015  members of six Fort Worth Rotary Clubs will be working in the park to refurbish benches along the river. More than 50 Rotarian men and women will be busy cleaning, scraping, and then painting the benches with a special finish designed for outdoor structures that are exposed to the Texas wind and weather.

Rotarians will gather in the parking lot at Franklin & Henderson at 9 a.m. to get started and will work until about 1 p.m.
